The other angle that plays a big part is explained through attachment theory. My childhood experiences had a huge impact on how my nervous system developed. The root of the problem was that no matter how much I wanted a relationship, my nervous system did everything it could to ensure attachment didn’t happen. My fearful avoidance wasn’t the only problem, complex trauma and enmeshment also played a huge role in my attachment failure.
